Sam's chemo today took about 3 hours. First they have to check his blood count. Once the lab gives the go ahead they start his pre-meds (stuff for nausea etc). Then they have to give him 2 test doses of the bleomycin to make sure he isn't going to have a reaction. Once he passes that they administer the bleomycin and then do a "flush" with IV fluids.
The infusion center has TV's with headphones at each recliner and a chair beside them so I could sit with him. All the nurses there are super nice. We watched TV, read and played Angry Birds to pass the time. I can also bring my laptop and work while we wait so it worked out pretty good today.
So far the chemo has just made him really tired this evening. A sweet friend brought us potato soup and cornbread tonight for dinner. YUM!! Sam was able to eat pretty well today.
He doesn't have another treatment until next Monday (Jan 16th)
